Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (hereinafter referred to as “JEES”) lends Braille test booklets and listening comprehension CDs for free. Please read the following details
1. List of available Braille test booklets
Please see the list of Braille test booklets.
- Test booklets range from (1) to (81). When applying to borrow a test booklet, please let us know the number of the booket(s) you would like.
- Up to three test booklets can be borrowed by one person at one time. The lending period is 30 days. Test booklets from 2010 onwards are not available.
- Lending of only the listening comprehension CD is not available.
2. Who can use this service?
Braille users in Japan who are visually impaired or their representative (this service is not available outside Japan).
3. How to borrow material
(1) User registration
First time users must complete user registration.
●By mail or FAX
Download and fill in the necessary information in the “User registration application/Change of registered details” form (Japanese).
Once you have completed filling in the form, mail or fax the form with a copy of a form of identification that includes the name and address of the person to be registered.
●Via the input form
Click “User registration application/Change of registered details input form” (Japanese) and input the required information.

- Persons who applied for user registration will receive in the mail or e-mail a “Registration notification” and “Registration number” from the JEES. Please do not lose the “Registration number”.
- If you provided your e-mail address when submitting your user registration, the “Registration number” will be sent to you by e-mail.
- If you have moved or if there are any changes to your registration details, please fill in the appropriate information on the “User registration application/Change of registered details” form (Japanese) and either mail or fax the form to JEES, or click “User registration application/Change of registered details input form” and change details. JEES will send you a new “Registration notification”.
(2) Application for borrowing material
●By mail or FAX
Download and fill in the necessary information in the “Loan application” form(Japanese). Mail or fax the form to JEES. First time users can send this form at the same time as their user registration.
●Via the input form
Click “Loan application input form” (Japanese) and input the required informtaion.

(3) Receiving of test booklets
The “About the lending of JLPT Braille test booklets” (Japanese) that includes the due date for the booklets will also be sent when JEES send test booklets.
If you provided your e-mail address when submitting your user registration, you will be notified by e-mail.
When you return test booklets, please place the test booklets in the self-addressed envelope which is send with test booklets and send them back to JEES. Mailing fee is free.
(4) Number of test booklets that can be borrowed at one time
Up to three booklets per person.
If the test booklets that you requested are currently being loaned to someone else, we will notify you by phone or e-mail.
(5) Loan period
The loan period is 30 days starting from the day following the day of shipment from JEES.
You will be notified of the “Due date” on the “About the lending of JLPT Braille test booklets” document or by e-mail.
(6) Extension of loan periods
You may extend the loan period only once (for another 30 days) and only if there are no other requests pending for the same test booklet.
If you would like an extension, please contact JEES by phone or e-mail during the loan period.
You will be notified of the new “Due date” on the “About the lending of JLPT Braille test booklets” document or by e-mail.
(7) Returning material
Please place the test booklets and listening comprehension CDs in a self-addressed envelope and send them back to the address listed below for JEES by the “Due date”. You do not need to put a stamp.
Please take precautions to make sure that the material does not get wet, dirty or break during delivery.
