1. Test Date and Start Time

(Not being present by this time, examinees will not be allowed to take the first test section.
In this case, the examinees may take the next test sections, although the answers will not be scored and the examinees will not pass the JLPT in 2024 (December).)

* For linguistic competence required for each level, please see here.
** As for the test hours, read carefully the following conditions:
(1) Examinees are not allowed to enter the test room once test hours have begun for any test sections.
(2) Test hours include instruction time etc, in addition to the actual answer time.
(3) The time allotted for the Listening section may differ slightly according to the length of the recorded materials.
(4) After the test, examinees must wait for proctors to finish counting the question booklets and the answer sheets for
about 20 min.
(5) Test time, shall be according to the watch of the test proctor of each classroom.
3. Test Sites (Tentative)
We are planning to administer the test in 47 prefectures.
* You will be notified of your test site by the test voucher.
* Please be aware that the test site different from the one you want such as one in a neighbor prefecture might be specified depending on the number of applications or other reasons.
4. About Application
Application via the Internet
①Application period: August 22 (Thu) – September 12 (Thu), 2024 (-17:00)
②Application procedure:
Please apply from the MyJLPT “JLPT Application” screen after registering with MyJLPT on the JLPT website of Japan Educational
Exchanges and Services (hereinafter referred to as “JESS”).
③Test Fee: 7,500 yen (consumption tax included)
④Test fee payment methods:
Credit card, Bank wire transfer (Pay-easy), Payment at a convenience store.
* For group applications, only bank wire transfer(Pay-easy) is available.
* From January 17, 2022, a separate fee of 110 yen will be required for cash payment from Japan Post Bank ATM. For group applications, a fee of 110 yen will be required for each “payment number”. (Click here for the Japan Post Bank website)
* For overseas applications, only credit card payment is available.
* Application by smartphone or tablet is available (Note that block registration by group representative is excluded). Application is not available from mobile phones such as feature phones.
*If you would like to issue receipts for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test examination fee, please issue them from the MyJLPT “Issuance of receipts” screen.
Receipts can be issued for one year from the date of payment, starting one week after the payment date (covering two tests).
*Receipts could be issued on MyJLPT for the 1st JLPT in 2024 and onwards. Receipts for until the 2nd JLPT in 2023 could not be issued. Please use the bank transfer receipt, receipt when payment has been completed, credit card billing details, etc. issued at the time of payment.
*To those who wish to receive special testing accommodations
The JLPT provides special testing accommodations for those who have difficulty taking the test in the usual way due to illness, injury, or disability. If you wish to apply, please check here.
5. Test Voucher
(1) Mailing of the test voucher
Mailed by November 15 (Fri), 2024
* You can view your test voucher on the MyJLPT “Check and Modify JLPT Application” screen starting November 12 (Tue), 2024.
(2) Non-delivered test voucher / missing of the test voucher
If your test voucher does not arrive or is missing, print out and use the test voucher on the MyJLPT “Check and Modify JLPT Application” screen at the test site.
If you can’t print the test voucher from MyJLPT, notify the Application Center of your fax number within the inquiry period
below, so that the test voucher can be faxed to you.

(3) Correcting test voucher data
*Your name may not be altered completely. Name correction allowed shall be about one or two characters only.
*It is not possible to change both name and date of birth.
* If there are any errors in your personal details on your test voucher, please send following ①~③ documents for the Application Center by mail within the test voucher data correction acceptance period.
A fee of 1,000 yen is necessary for correction after this period.
①Photocopy of your test voucher which is made the necessary corrections
②Photocopy of photo ID (photocopy of your passport or residence card etc.)
③Request form for JLPT Test Voucher Data Correction (you can download it from here)
●NOTE
*If your name on the test voucher is incorrect, the name will be printed on the answer sheet as it is. Use the sheet as it is.
Changes will not be accepted at the test site.
*JLPT Application Center cannot answer each examinee’s test sites via telephone or any other means.
Please check your test site by the test vouchers.

6. Announcement of Test Results
(1) Subjecting those who completed all test sections, pass or fail for each level will be determined based on the overall pass
marks and sectional pass marks shown here. A test result will be sent to each examinee and those examinees who successfully pass the test will receive a Certificate of Japanese-Language Proficiency. Those who applied via the Internet can check test results on the Internet on or after the notification date of test results.
(2) Official test results as well as the Certificate of Japanese-Language Proficiency will be sent early in February, 2025.
* You can view your test results on the MyJLPT “Test Result and Certificate Issuance” screen from late January 2025.
* Notification of the mailing date for Test Results and the date of availability of test results on MyJLPT will be made in late January 2025 on the JEES website.
* You can change where your Test Results will be mailed to (Japan only) after taking the test.

Please log in to the MyJLPT and change mailing address on “Check and Modify applicants’ information” screen.
(3) Transferring test result to an overseas address
If you want to transfer the test result to an overseas address, mail the following items ① and ② to the Application Center
within the overseas transfer acceptance period below.
① a photocopy of your test voucher (enter your telephone number in a vacant column)
② an envelope (large enough to hold a postcard) with the required postage stamp affixed (depending on the country).
* Write your name, overseas address, and examinee registration number on the envelope.

(4) For detailed information about pass/fail, please see here.
(5) For an examinee who takes the JLPT abroad where the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) does not administer the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students, JEES will send the examinee’s score to a university or a junior college upon request, after the notification of test results.
(6) If you find any errors in the Test Results or in the Certificate of Japanese-Language Proficiency, notify the JLPT Application Center. Correction fee of 1,000 yen will be necessary. *Note that correction may be not be possible depending on the types of errors.
